Nipple Ring Engagement

It was a pleasure photographing Val and Young in Scottsdale, Arizona a few weeks ago. The weather was perfect and we had an intense sunset. I liked Young right off the bat when he approached me with a big hug. But he had me a while back…when I first heard about how he proposed to Val. I liked him before I even met him. Here’s the story:

Young walked in with a sweatshirt on…something unusual in the heat of an Arizona autumn.  “What are you doing with THAT on?” Val asked.   He sheepishly looked down,  “Uh, I got a nipple ring today.”  Val shot him that you’ve gotta be kidding me look. “Well let me see it” she said.  Young pulled off his sweatshirt and then shirt to reveal a diamond ring scotch taped to his right nipple. Val walked over for a closer look. “That’s a really nice ring!” she said in shock.  “Would you like to try it on?”

Masquerade Reception at the Culinary Institute at Greystone

I knew I was in for some fun when Jenna and Vince told me that their wedding was on Halloween.  I was overjoyed when the news came that their venue was the Culinary Institute at Greystone in the heart of Napa Valley. The ceremony took place outside on the Herb Terrace with the massive walls of the historic building as their backdrop and two large wooden wine barrels framing the wedding party.   We then moved inside to the barrel room for a classy masquerade reception where the guests then donned their elegant masks while sipping fine wine and chatting before dinner.  The meal was exquisite, with Parmesan crusted tournedos of beef,  sweet potato souffle and a veggie ragout served with a red wine reduction (I’m a foodie…can you tell?).  We had a lot of fun taking photos throughout the day and into the night.   Here are a few of my favorites

Riviera Maya Brides

This past fall I had the opportunity to work with some amazing people in the Yucatan.  As part of  conference called “Love Mexico”  I went as a photographer and member of AFWPI (Association for Wedding Professionals International). The conference was to educate wedding planners and other professionals about the area and to visit some of the beautiful venues in the Riviera Maya region just south of Cancun.  We were hosted by Barcelo Resort and had a great time.  Here are some of my images from that week.

Viaggio Wedding – Zillian!

Jillian and Zachary’s wedding at Viaggio was pretty much incredible!  The food, flowers, the band, the wine…all were just fantastic.  Jill’s mom and step-dad hired 2 stilters (8-feet tall) who came in full costume and threw flower petals as the couple exited their ceremony and climbed up the steps toward the mansion at Viaggio. They added another dimension to the day.   Here are some images from the day.  I’m also working on a video that I’ll post soon.

Viaggio Wedding! Lauren and David

I LOVE photographing weddings at Viaggio Winery (www.viaggiowinery.com)!  And Lauren and David’s wedding was just gorgeous! They chose to see each other before the ceremony, so we set up a nice shady place for their ‘first look’.  It was really neat to see David’s reaction to Lauren in her dress.  She was BEAUTIFUL!  Here are some of my favorite images of the day.
